Chittenden Community Members, Through the United Way Campaign, Pledged $1,820 to Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington

Burlington, Vermont May 2, 2007 -- Bob Schwartz, Dianne Schwartz, Mark Knapp and Dixie O'Connor of Great Northern Construction, Inc. pledged a total of $1,820.00 to Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington, Inc. through their 2007 United Way Campaign.

The United Way campaign was the yearly Community Campaign they do to meet their fund raising goals.  Rebuilding Together is not on of their listed organizations, however anyone can designate a Vermont non-profit agency as beneficiary of their contribution.  The United Way does not provide program or fiscal oversight of programs like Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington. They simply check their 501(c) (3) tax exempt status, collect the funds they make through payroll withholding and send the check to Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington on a quarterly basis.

When asked where their motivation and generosity comes from, Dixie O’Connor replied “With the work Bob and I do with the board of directors, and Dianne and Mark having volunteered on many project days, we all see the value in helping our neighbors live in safety and warmth and the amazing work a merry band of "do-gooders" can accomplish in a single day.  We unanimously decided to pledge our contributions to RT*GB to help expand the reach, and continue the excellent work RT*GB performs each year.  We all walk away feeling enriched by the experience and more than grateful for all we have in our lives.”

Rebuilding Together is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization working to preserve homeownership and neighborhoods by providing rehabilitation services free of charge to those in need.
