Essex Junction, Vermont April 18, 2008 -- The Remodelers Council of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Northern Vermont held a Silent Auction and Kids Build at the 39th 2008 Vermont Home and Garden Show with $2,708.66 in proceeds benefiting Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington. The HBRA has also been a source for skilled volunteers on project days.
Two current board members of Rebuilding Together, Dixie O’Connor and Bob Schwartz are past chairs of the Remodelers Council and have outreached to peers for help on project days as well as fund raising efforts. The Remodelers Council has contributed proceeds from the last four years by fundraising at the Home Show through a Kid's Build area - kids come and build a tool box or flower box and contribute $5 - along with a shed raffle in the past three years. The past two years they’ve also had a Silent Auction. This year Todd Warren at Otter Creek Awning donated a motorized awning, valued at $2,200, to our Silent Auction in lieu of a shed and that was the auction’s big draw. The Council had a total of $9,500.00 worth of donated goods and auction bids reached $5,236.00. After expense, it’s expected that the Remodelers Council will donate $2,700 to Rebuilding Together*Greater Burlington.
